96 Continental is possessed!

The factory alarm went off twice tonight for no reason, undoubtedly pleasing my neighbors oh so much. What could be done about this? Pulling out the alarm horn fuse? Installing an after market alarm?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is a legacy car, and I want it to stay in the family as long as possible. I certainly don't want to see it fall (if one were to push it) over the edge of a cliff or something.

Thanks!

Thanks Max. So this could be related to the mysterious messages I get on the dash? From time to time, I get messages like "check ride control", "door ajar", "trunk open", while driving. My Dad has always ignored them, pressed reset, and kept driving. I guess we can't ignore them anymore huh?

Thanks!

Yes those are it...

Door ajar and trunk ajar... they are triggering the alarm.

At first I would try to use WD-40 on these... if it doesn't work replace em...

Oh and I'd also make sure that your air ride is operating like it should... if you're getting a message that usually indicates that there is a leak in the system somewhere...

Does your car drop overnight?

I posted yesterday about the "Check Ride Control" yesterday. Odd thing is it was VERY cold when the message appeared - it was ~ 25 degrees that day. The car (2002 Continental) does not drop overnight as did my '96 Towncar when the rear suspension bag sprung a leak. And the day before I received the "trunk open" message while driving.
