96 LSC Headlight Question

Question #1, and I am a former 96 LSC owner........I just don't remember the answer. I know the dim lights are HID. QUESTION: Are the brights HID as well, or just the dims? I remember only having 2 ballasts inside the hood, rather then 4.

Question #2 When buying from Ford, is the entire LSC price of $1000 include the assemblies, bulbs, ballasts, etc? Or is this just for the ballasts and bulbs?

The reason I am asking is that I am planning on changing the light system on my 93 when I pick it up to HID and was just trying to figure out if I should make the brights HID or just stick with the 9005 Halogens on them. Planning to use the McCulloch Xenon 8000K kit with new factory headlight assemblies (if mine have never been replaced-------don't know yet, bought the car on Ebay and have not seen it yet). I am gonna do the brights jumper thing regardless.

RE: 96 LSC Headlight Question

I have never seen OEM bights as HIDs, because they are used to flash and need to come on instantly.

RE: 96 LSC Headlight Question

The low beams are HID and the high beams are 9005 halogen.

The OEM 'kits' are complete with housing, ballast and bulbs. I used HIR bulbs in the high beam position and Sylvania SilverStar Signal Lamps in the turn signal position.

For the low beams to be kept on with the high beams, I used a "Brite Box". http://www.thebritebox.com/

You may also consider a relay "kit" from http://www.danielsternlighting.com/

Also, on the tech pages, there is a fix for the multi-function switch to retain low beams with high beams, but relays are recommended.

They have Bi-xenon now on lots of other new cars, where both high's and low's are HID's.

But aren't they mechanical, in that it pivots the lenses/bulb or uses a shutter? So it uses the same bulb that is lit already for lows.

Yes, you are correct. Only on the E-class where they are seperate bulbs.
