97 LSC Seat Motor

Drivers side seat will not move forward or backwards (unless i push REALLY hard while having a friend operate the switch) and when it doesn't move it clicks continuously. All the other power functions work. I have removed the seat and the three motors. The brushes look good. I tried to spin the motor by hand to see if the seat would move and it doesn't. I tried to use a pair or pliers on the end of the gear to move the seat and it doesn't budge. Could it be jammed? What should I do? Any help is greatly appreciated! In the meantime i'll be shampooing the carpets as there was a lot of crap under that seat!!! :)

Must replace the seat track, mine's doing the same thing. Several guys have spares, just post on the wtb classifieds. Cost around $150.

I removed my old seat and took the motors out and inspected them. They were fine, my problem was broken gear teeth. I knew this becuase I could turn the shaft that drove the seat forward and backward by hand. Grease will do you no good if you have the same problem. I confirmed mine was broken, it would be worth your while to take it out and look it over before you buy another........ but with this being a common problem I suspect you will end up replacing the whole thing.

Yeah I pulled the motors and then stuck the drive pin and rotor in and tried to spin it by hand. Nothing happened. Well i guess i'll replace it and let you know how i made out. Thanks for the help!

figures i find this thread the night AFTER i buy my new seat track, im gonna try and rebuild mine anyway now that i have a replacement incase i F something up, if i fix it and someone wants to buy a seat track..send me a PM, ill sell a working track for $50 plus shipping

That repair that I did was just the motors. I haven't had the seat transmission (or whatever it's called) problem yet.

I imagine they can be rebuilt, but you would probably have to use gears from a good one, and at that point, you might as well use the whole good one.:)

My gear-train is shot, so cleaning the motors did not help. I tried it already ;-( I figure most of the problems are like mine, stripped grear teeth.

I don't know about that, the gear problem seems to be more common on Gen 2 Marks.:D

Well i mistakenly ordered a passenger side from someone on ebay then located the driver side track. Since i pulled both seats to do the carpets i guess i'll do both seat tracks too! Right now i'm trying to locate the procedure on fixing the leak that occurs by the blower motor. Thats the real reason i'm shampooing the carpets. The water wicks (i think) all the waay to the back seat floor on the passenger side. Unless that water is from somewhere else. Thats it! Keeping it in the garage except sunny days like i used to!!! LOL!

Sounds like you have the front window/cowling leak.....

In regards to the seats. I am on my second used replacement track and find that the problem I am having is intermittent power I think. Every now and again it works, no sounds or anything. So I was checking the fuse and I have no power to it. Should I? If not where do I look from there?

When I get a chance, I'll compare the Gen1 and Gen 2 seats to see if any parts of the mechanism can be swapped between the two.

The motors or transmissions might be swappable separatley.

I know the wiring is different.
