98 CE possibly for sale

Hey guys, due to some unfortunate events that are leaving my mighty short on cash, I am considering selling my 98 Collectors Edition. I really hate to even think about it as I planned to keep this car forever, but I might not have a choice. This is a very low milage car (I think 15,000 miles but would have to check to be exact as I haven't been to the storage unit this year.) The car is in absolutely perfect showroom condition...there is not one single flaw on it anywhere. (I even bought an extra set of CE flootmats so I could put my feet on one and have brand new ones to look at--thats the kind of care this car has been treated to).

I hate to deal with all the deadbeats on ebay, but if I do, bidding would start at $22,000, but I would rather deal with people here who appreciate the cars. If anyone is interested, you can write me at gearfreak62@aol.com, or you could call me at (715) 835-4589 if you are seriously interested and I will get it out of my storage unit and get some picture for you. If you are close enough to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and would like to see it, that would be even better because the car would sell itself better than I can. Not only has it never been in the snow, this car has never even been rained on....it really is a showroom perfect car.

I saw that, and was a little disapointed that there wasn't more appreciation for that car. Frankly, I'd rather have mine though...it has a better color combination, and 14,000 some miles is better than 218 in my opinion as he is asking for dried out seals. Mine has been driven just enough to keep them lubricated.

Frankly, I don't want to lose the car, but if I have to, I won't be losing money on top of it....anything less than $20,000 would be an insult.

that pretty much sums up the state of mind ALL Mark VIII "original owners" had, until the market changed their mind.

I am sorry you would see it as an insult if you were offered less than $20k,...but realistically speaking,...prepare for the insults to fly.

BTW, you mentioned a "better" color combo...Cordovan?

what number is your CE?

The only way you'll see over $22k is if someone just HAS to have that car, or if it is an important number...say #001, or one of the last 5 ever built.

either way, good luck to you.

No, it was the same colored body, but with the gray interior--personally, I think the tan interiors are ugly and do no match a pearlescent white car, but thats just personal opinion.

I'd have to go look at the number, but its not a special number.

I bought the car from a Ford Engineer 2 years ago for $22,000, and it had 12,000 miles on it at the time. He planned to keep the car for forever and stored it in one of those plastic bubbles that circulate air most of the year. I've put about 3,000 miles on it in the 2 years I've owned it, and have kept it stored in a garage with a sealed floor and climate control. I paid what I believe the car to be worth, and am just looking to get my money back. I'll drive it before I sell it for a penney less.

I'm aware that not many people are willing to buy a car as a future museum piece, but thought that there might be someone on a mark VIII board who appreciates Mark VIIIs, or were wishing to either buy the car they couldn't back in 1998 or replace the one that they wore out for 1/2 the price.
