98 LSC acting up - help!

You can run a Walbro 255 but the 98 Mark VIII has a variable voltage system which is kinda of a hybrid system and apparently the SVT Focus pump works better with it.

Why you can't use walbros on gen II !!!!!!!!. I have walbro 255 in my 98 mark and it works good for last 3 years.

Odd for the longest time word of mouth was that they were direct drop in replacements for the Gen I but the Gen II required a different style pump... learn new things every day.

Burbank, did you have to modify your 98 fuel basket to get the Walbro to fit because the SVT Focus fits right in or you can even use the Focus basket.

Got the pump installed, the car is running really well now. The tech said he had to reuse the stock basket but used the Focus fuel sender.

Yea I did, my friend is a Ford tech and did the job. The Ford dealership has the most sophisticated diagnostic devices now compared to any independent shop, they got laptops that plug into the obd2 port and can monitor everything in the PCM.

They sure do. It is nice that you got the hookup at a dealer :). I like what the dealer does and what tools they use... but not at the cost they charge.

That's rather impossible as the focus setup is returnless and lacks return fuel fitting. Unless by sending unit he meant the actual fuel pump motor
