a/c & heat controller issue

on my 95 mark viii the a/c & heat controller turns on when it feels like it. the past few days ithas been nice enough to run with the windows down in the morning so ihave not been running the a/c at all. it just turns on when it feels like it...?... some mornings about 10 times, others less or more. this morning only like twice. anything i need to know?
 
Do you mean you have it completely off and it turns on by itself? Or the blower turns on?

I've never heard of this one.
 
Remove the lower right dash panel and wiggle the connector on the blower motor (black connector w/red and black wire directly under the glove box).

Mine is doing the same thing.....you either have a burnt connector or corroded wires.

i will look at that J, thanks. when it turns on the a/c is coming on also. most time's when iam driving i never hear it turn on i just feel the cold a/c and then know it's on again...
 
The gen 1 looks a bit different than the gen 2 blower, the wire is right in front in the gen 1.

You never answered my question, is it just the blower that turns on or the whole system?

If the whole system turns on, it's not the blower.
 
billcu, read the post above-Ha. this morning it never turned on once for the first time and i was amazed... i did check the wiring at the blower motor, looks great and i even gave it a wiggle test and nothing turned on. but to answer your question Billcu, yes. the whole system turns on a/c as well.
 
Sorry, I just wanted to be sure, I've never heard of this one. I don't think I've ever left mine off, if I'm not using it, I usually lust leave it on floor, full cold, fan all the way down.

I'd try swapping the controller with a known good one first. Do you know anyone close that might have one?

I've got a couple 94 controllers with broken buttons that otherwise would work fine for testing. I never did much "off" button testing on them though.:)
 
Wait, to clarify even more. If the entire system is OFF, does the controls light up and it starts itself, or is it like mine where you have it set to something (floor or A/C) and then all of a sudden you hear the fan start going?

No in all seriousness, check your buttons on your EATC. I have a suspicion that one of the buttons may be sticking, and when you hit a bump, its enough to turn it on.
 
when the key is on or the car running the controller says " off ", nothing else. when it turns on it shows the temp it's set for and it's full on A/C. yesterday and this morning it never turned on once. i don't anyone locally to swap out and try another, and the weird part is when it's on it will never turn it self back off... weird and maybe a ghost??? and as far as bumps i thought the samething but there's times when i riding along and it turns on and the road is smooth.
