RE: About that other site
I'd like to retract the last line in my post above, and I've asked the moderators to remove it.
Why?
Because it was unecessary, and unbecoming of a representative of the club. Many of you know I tend to shoot my mouth off at times, and it gets me into trouble. No one's said a word to me about the post, but I just think it's the right thing to do.
Since this thread is out in the open where everyone can see it, I'd like to write a few more words on the matter. These are my opinions only and don't necessarily represent the opinions of the BOD:
I want to make it crystal clear that my problem is NOT with the membership of LVC, it lies solely with the proprieter, whom I won't mention again.
I personally feel no animosity whatsoever toward those of you who visit LVC, even those of you who have made it your permanent home and no longer post here. I hope I didn't give that impression. A few of you I consider friends. Even the ones I don't know well, are missed. I'm not gonna name names (I'm sure I'd miss someone), but there are many former "regulars" whose presence and participation made the LOD a better, and unique, place to hang out. It's a damned shame that things can't be the way they used to be.
But of course we know that ain't gonna happen. We have three sites up and running and none of them are going to go away. That's a fact. It's up to the individual whether to choose sides or just ignore the stupid politics, and "get a life" as Stanley so eloquently put it.
Yes, the last two years have been rough ones. Lots of hard feelings to go around. While I, too, disagreed with some of things going on at the time, I have much more respect--or maybe a better word is empathy--for those in the previous administration.
But that's (hopefully) behind us now. We recently had a relatively uneventful election, and new people are in the leadership roles. I've watched and worked with these guys for the past few months, and there is a definite sense of optimism and enthuiasm that had once been lacking. There's still much work to be done, but I'm confident that the worst of days are behind us and we are moving in the right direction.
I could break into a corny essay about how "time heals all wounds", but some of you are still gonna do what you're gonna do regardless.
The most I can ask of you former LODers is to stop by and say hi once in a while. You're all welcome as far as I'm concerned.
