ABS Assembly Replacement in '89 Mk. VII LSC

A fluid leak makes it necessary for me to replace the entire ABS assembly in my '89 LSC and I was lucky(?) enough to find one that cost a little under $200.00 and is apparently in good condition but we can't know for sure until it's installed and that's the problem.

The hose and nipples are the right size and I was warned that that could have been a problem but the problem seems to be coming from an unanticipated direction. The original assembly has a round 4-wire connector on the electrical cable leading to the pump/motor unit and my mechanic tells me that 2 of the wires are "signal" wires. The replacement unit has an oval shaped connector and only 2 wires. I'm attaching a couple of pictures of both the old and the new units for whatever help that may be.

The used parts dealer can't find any indication of this variation in the ABS system for the '89 Lincoln in any of the interchangeability literature. Is it likely that I was shipped a unit from a year that is "Slightly Less Interchangeable"? If so can anyone give me more details?

Do any of my Distinguished fellow Lincoln afficionados know anything about this problem? Any help is sincerely appreciated.
