advice on shipping a driveshaft

I have two 1-piece driveshafts I plan to advertise in the FOR SALE forum.
But the question I have is, what is the best method of shipping them so they dont get damaged?
 
The one that I had shipped to me only had the ends wrapped, and the rest was just exposed with a sticker that had my address on it... made it to me find...

what is the best way to package them so they dont get damaged without making the shipping bill astronomical?

I was thinking of bracing them length-wise with a long 2x4 down each side, secured with heavy duty zip ties, and then boxed?
 
Ok, all i was saying is that the one that I had shipped to me only had something to protect the universal joints, and the rest of the shaft didn't have any bracing at all, and it wasn't damaged during shipping. There was no box or anything like that...

Just cut up some cardboard boxes and roll up the shaft inside and tape the crap out of them....nothing is going to happen to it. If you add 15 pounds of 2X4 your shipping price is going to be crazy!

UPS will ship big items like that without anything on them, just the shaft with a sticker like Sax said, but you could just wrap the ends and be set.
 
When I shipped the anti-sway bar I bought a box from UPS. I think it was around $15. Cut it down in size (two make the shipping cheaper) and packed it with newspaper.

When I had a drveshaft sent to me it was wraped in the remains of several boxes and about two miles of tape. LOL
It arrived just fine.

I'll do just that(protect the ends, and label the shaft).

I might even go so far as to do what Jamie did for Jesse.

If the buyer wants added protection, he/she can pay extra for that. I believe they refer to that as a "handling fee"....

hey, a new quote for Jesse.

"I will charge extra if you want your shaft protected".
 
wow you remembered that craig, jesse got a bling bling shaft from me, polished aluminum i still dont know why i did such a nice thing for jesse the cop!!! cops never did anything good for me lol.
 
Go to USPS and get free Shipping tubes.
Duck tape the tubes together.
