Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

Anyone know of any?

My baby was outside in a horrible hail storm and seems to have taken some pretty serious damage, especially the hood.

Just figured, before I take it into the shop if it's worth checking on some sort of aftermarket hood for it.

Oh, I just wanna cry.

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

PDL (paintless dent removal) was invented for hail damage. Well I just made that up but it will take care of your hood problem.

I've had my Mark to [link:www.dentbusters.com/|DentBusters] way too many times and am more than a satisfied customer. Give them or [link:www.dentwiz.com/|another PDL service] a try.

I've been to the [link:www.dentbusters.com/|DentBusters] in Addison 5 or 6 times.

edit: And your insurance will pay for the damage too.

Well, that's what I'm hoping they can do for the rest of the car, but I just don't know about the hood and one particularly nasty dent in the fender. The hood is dinged all over the place... I'll see what they have to say - the body shop I took the car to last time successfully used PDR on a ding I had on one of the fenders and you can't even tell.

PS - Did you guys get it up there Paul? Or the tornados? No tornados here but a lot of sirens for a while.

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

We got some pretty strong winds and plenty of lightning etc but no hail. I heard on the news that it hit pretty hard in the Lake Zurich Palatine area.

About PDR. You'd be surprised what they can get out with the proper talent. I had a real nasty 18 inch long and 1/4 inch + deep crease removed from my right rear quarter panel and you'd be hard pressed to find it.

Personally I would take it to [link:www.dentbusters.com/|DentBusters] Addison shop before I'd give up on PDR even if another place tells you no.

Brad, I'm glad you sacrificed yourself for the safety of your car. ;-)

Steve - you've heard the stories before. ;-) You know what they're like. Hubby was doing stuff, putting up shelves, and there wasn't room. The good thing is, he was punished. He was holding up his hood when a huge bolt of lightning hit close to here and he got a shock. I laughed. :)

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. If you're going aftermarket, it'll probably be a cowl hood. If you get a cowl hood, you have to put something under it to justify it :) ;)

Shhhh...don't give away my secrets. ;-)

Well, I still haven't heard back from the insurance company (tons of claims I guess) but I also don't know whether or not there are other hoods. I just want to keep my options open. :)

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

Just got my estimate. $5K in damage, including replacing the hood (price for a new hood listed at $2,044).

And the good news, one of the adjusters there has a 94 Mark. I gave him a card and told him to come here and come to the Chicago meet.

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

Guess we better turn on the "no more jokes about insurance claims" filter now, huh???

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

How different is the line on the front of the hood where the hood meets the grille/header panel? And are the fenders different at all between the two models? I know the Gen 2 hood has some extra clearance, but if it'll line up at the fenders and at the front, a legendary hood will fit just fine. Sharon, why not hook up with Steve, and take his old hood, set it up on your car and see if it looks like it'll line up on the front and the sides. If it does, order one from Legendary.

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

I don't know...even just eyeballing it, it certainly seems like there's no way it'd match up front in the center. But no worries, I'm talking to Dan Rotolante to see if we can do something a little special. :)

Hey, I might actually be modified by Carlisle 2004. :)

RE: Aftermarket Hoods for Gen 2?

Yea, i took a look at mine when i went outside, there's no way it'll match up with a gen-1 in the front.
