RE: AHHH COME ON MIDWEST
Yeah Dave, its pretty scarse down Archer now, except for some days. It seems like the hottest days bring out the ricers..... I've had a few run ins with the 'Stang, but everyone thinks I have a supercharger (actually the gear to gear whine) so they back off. I've seen people hang out a little south of there on 71st and Harlem. Mary's Kitchen.....or something like that, people in muscle cars hang out in the parking lot sort of like the old Dukes Drive in. As far as street racing....I don't see much. Oh, and Chicago is in the process of passing a law where they will either take your car or just impound your car for street racing.
City cranks up efforts to halt illegal drag racing:[Chicago Final Edition]
Sabrina L Miller, Tribune staff reporter. Chicago Tribune. Chicago, Ill.: Sep 3, 2003. pg. 4
Abstract (Article Summary)
If the full council approves the measure Thursday, Chicago will become the latest city to crack down on drag racers by impounding their vehicles. Dozens of cities have enacted anti-drag racing laws in response to fatalities, and [Edward Burke] said he modeled Chicago's legislation after San Diego's. That city reported a significant decrease in drag-racing deaths since toughening laws.
Hey Manny,
I was out your way this past weekend looking for trouble but couldn't find anything but some young kid in an Eagle Talon. Drove down Harlem to Archer to Central down to Ogden and back again but nothing to be found. I was kind of depressed. I grew up around that area and use to know the local hangouts but it didn't seem like much was going on. The race with the Talon was funny though. I was driving my Camaro (Yes I still have my Marks) and I let the guy get two car lengths in front of me. I floored it and sent the car sidways in second. I'm not sure if he got scared or what because once the tires finally caught I passed him up like he was parked. Where's the real action at?!
