Air bag light - code 32

Drivers side air bag circuit resistance high.

Often caused by a bad clockspring. Do your horn and cruise control work?

They can break if the steering wheel is turned too much when disconnected from the rack.

Damn. I probably broke it. The horn works but the cruise does not. The cruise on/off lbuttons don't light up. The other buttons do.

I would think that with enough effort, yes. But I've always visualized the results as something similar to that time I decided to take apart a tape measure...

SPROING!!@!
followed immediately by.. "dad's gunna kill me..."

Even though that's likely not the case, I doubt it is particularly serviceable. I'm assuming it is some sort of ribbon-cable inside that thing, and replacements do seem to be available.

Yes, but I think I may have broke it when I had it dosconnected.

I have some of those white bearings arriving today. i may fix the old one since that was the only problem. Then remove the one you sold me and fix that.

Apparhently those white bearing retainers are available again.

Yes, it's just a coiled up ribbon cable, you can check for continuity from the plugs.

If you find an open circuit in one of the cable's wires, you'll know it's bad.

If you don't find an open, it could still be bad though. It could be intermittent. I'd swap it with a known good one then, to be sure.

It should be zip tied or taped in place without moving it right after first removal.
If you don't know where it's sitting right now, definitely turn it both ways, and center out.
The wheel turns around 3 times lock to lock.

Thanks. I ended up assuming it must be centered and gently turned it each way. I was just nervous about moving it. Everything is installed. The air bag light is no longer flashing. Only missing functionality is the cruise control. cruise did not work on 2 different clock srings that I am pretty sure are good. Could not find any cruise control fuses.

NEver mind on the cruise. It works. I ran it through the self test and verified the buttons work. Never new there was a self test. I think I was expecting the light to come on when I press the ON button. Guess you have to press the "Set" button to turn on the light. That tells you how long it has been since I used the cruise control.
