All Your Cars Belong to Ford

I didn't know of this until after the calendars were available for production at CafePress.com. Apparently this is happening to quite a few other car clubs as well. FWIW, I steered away from any overt "LINCOLN" advertising and tried to make it as generic as could be and still remain a club calendar. Lastly, the calendars are being sold at cost and there are no profits being made.

Maybe with our low exposure we will fly under the radar?

Hopefully J.P.

I've joined BMC to keep on top of whats going on. Looks like they're gonna go with another producer but are going through the legalities first to make sure Ford can't come after them.

Also they closed the first thread and started a new one to make it easier to stay on track of whats going on. http://www.bmcforums.com/showthread.php?t=42681

I've got my calendars.

If Ford wants them, they're going to have to pry them from my cold, hard, dead fingers.:D

Not only do all of your calendars belong to Ford, but your avatars and sigs would also fall under this category.

This is ridiculous. I read about this a while back in Mustang Monthly or some other mustang magazine. It seemed that Ford was going after any company using the name mustang that sold anything automotive. I understand if a company is making an inferior product and selling it as a genuine mustang product (trying to deceive the customer), but going after this calendar is ridiculous. They aren't making money but promoting the brand which is what Ford should want. They should want more car clubs around their products. That is why the mustang is so popular and has remained in production for over 40 continuous years.

From what I've read on other forums, the problem has been resolved. I don't know for sure though as I've been to busy to keep up on the BMC thread.

I just don't get Ford when it comes to releasing their trademarks, etc for a product that will promote their products anyway. It's so hard to find a diecast model of a particular Ford you want, yet Chevy lets everyone under the sun make all of their models in diecast. You can't even buy fabric in yardage at a store with the name Ford on it; it's rarely found. They make it hard for the enthusiast to stay excited about Ford products, by making anything cool impossible to get. And they wonder why sales are slipping . . . . ? How ridiculous, to pick on a car club over their own calendar. It's impossible to find a Mustang calendar I like anymore, because they include models I don't like at all. Finding a custom calendar full of cars you like is very special!
