Alternator going out AGAIN in like the last 6 months. Anyone know of a good aftermarket direct fit higher output altern?

Will upping the amps harm anthing? and how many does the stock put out?

If you gentlemen know any of these.

The real question is why you need more amps? I think stock is 120 for 95 and earlier and 96 up went to 130??

I have a decent sound system with a 650 amp to power two 12" subs and a 400 amp to power the other 4 channels.

Adding more output thats not needed wont really hurt, but its not needed if you have a pretty basic setup or stock system.

I don't think a reman is a gamble it's like flushing your money down the toilet!been there doing that I'm on my third autozone lifetime gaurentee alt. I have averaged 1-2 months each, and I carry a booster pack in my trunk so I can choose where to park(you don't have much range on batt. only even w/EVERYTHING shut off!) I tried to save a few bucks and the aggrivation/worry has cost a lot more.

Buy the 4' fused power cable with the PA Performance alternator. Leave the OEM cable in place and run the new fused cable from the alternator + terminal to the battery or the stud on the power distribution box(fuse box).

You can help any charging system with the upgraded cable. You can pick them up from here as well. If you run an underdrive crank pulley, you may want to consider an overdrive alternator pulley to boost the rpms of the alternator at idle speeds.

BTW, your link was to a GM alternator. You want this one or the 200A version for your Mark VIII.

You jinxed me! LOL

My PA Performance alternator finally bit the dust today. One too many dead batteries.

Guess it's time to go shopping. :)

I believe it's been at least 3 years.

Severe duty to say the least, so I'm not complaining.

Aren't the PA Performance alternators lifetime warranty alternators?

I hope so, mine went out last year and I haven't shipped mine back yet. I've been using a used gen 2 alternator that Jeremi gave me.

My red Mark has 200K miles and the original gen 1 alternator.:D

Boy, talk about jinxing myself.:D

Yes they are lifetime warranty. I will need to find my paperwork I suppose. I may just see if I can trade up for a polished one.
