My Mark has 134k, it had a Ford alternator put on it at approx 80k, which replaced the original. That was back in 2003.
It still charges fine, i am getting no problems there, but I have gotten a 'whine' or ring in my radio now, which changes based on the electrial draw.
For example, if I hit the brakes, the pitch of the ring changes, if I put on my turn signal the ring changes with the blinking, and so forth.
Is this a sign that the alternator is breaking down internally? If I turn the radio off the noise goes away completely.
Radio problem, or alternator problem?
I don't want to replace a good alternator for no reason, but it's driving me nuts!
