Another headlight question: HID Upgrade

Gen One. what and where is everyone buying a good HID upgrade kit? i started to redo my headlights over the weekend. i started to wet sand the outside of the headlights and made huge process. i can actually see the blubs into the housing now :D. the chrome looks great on the inside and i was very amazed on how well it is. i want to do a HID upgrade next. where's the best place to buy from? i don't want a cheap $20.00 kit but iam not going to spend hundreds of dollars. thanks...
 
People(M8 owners) favor ddm tuning kits. Cheap and reliable. I have a 45 dollar no name kit off ebay in my g2 and it's been fine for years. You'll find that many of the kits are identical both in phisical apperance and spec's just with diff stickers on the ballast.

The 100+ kits can have just as many problems as the cheaper ones. Since I'm keeping my car awhile I bought 2 of the cheaper kits. If I ever have any problems I'll have spares of everything.

You will need clear lenses that you do not have now....yours have focus lenses there and a HID bulb will scatter the light all over and you will /may blind on-coming drivers.
 
i had no idea about needing clear lenses, which i don't have. is there a company out there selling the clear lense's? my stock headlights are crap!!! after i did the wet sanded and polished the outside there's a difference but the car needs better lighting for sure. any suggestions?????????
 
send me your housings and i will restore the inside chrome to brand new condition, then you can install your choice of 9005 based hid's and light up deer eyes 5 miles down the road!

Jamie, he said his chrome looks good.....can you still prepare them for HIDS? Will they NOT blind oncoming traffic?
 
i took a closer look at the headlights today, the chrome on the high beam side looks mint... the chrome on the low beam side looks dirty or dull, all the chrome is there just looks worn.
 
OK...that's the ones the HID's replace. If you search around this forum, you'll find photos that Jamie put up when he did his.

That offer good for 2nd gens also ?
And, since that is plastic i assume, can u also put new chrome on the 2nd gen grilles ?
