Another one bites the dust...

I went to Pittsburgh Raceway Park today for the first time at that track this year. It was a nice autumn day and I wanted some more practice before the trip to Atlanta for the Super Southern HeavyWeight ShootOut.

The track was very busy, typical for a Test and Tune session, and the staging lanes were full to the brim and overflowing. But I managed to get 5 runs in despite a couple breakdowns and one major cleanup of the track.

I started off slow with a 13.716 @ 99.76 spinning off the launch. I adjusted the tire pressure and waited for the second round. This time it spun just a little off the line but the timeslip showed better with a 13.640 @ 100.29. The next two rounds were consistent with 13.661 @ 100.38 followed by 13.642 @ 100.40.

When they called for the final round I was determined to get a 13.5 something. I had been launching off idle and decided to load the suspension stalling the converter at launch. The results:

R/T: 0.0720
60': 1.8954
330': 5.5416
1/8: 8.5728
mph: 81.04
1000': 11.1966
1/4: 13.4169 <<-New Best ET
MPH: 101.74

:D

Likely not. The PRP track sits at 1200 feet but the average temp was 63.7 with 34% average humidity. The barometer was fairly steady at 30.31, so average density altitude was 1436 feet which wasn't bad.

Atlanta Dragway's elevation is 1100', so with some luck with the weather it could be a toss-up.

Thanks.

In retrospect, I found it amusing launching off idle was consistently 0.1xxx reaction times but stalling the converter gave me a 0.072 RT.

I have at least a couple more attempts this year to get even better. My last best ET came in the month of November and perhaps I can catch a good day at a good track and do it again.

Good JOB JP!

you keep chipping at it..it's gonna be a 12 someday!
