Another PCM question

Can a pcm from a 93 Mark with a catchcode of w3z2 be plugged into a 94 with
a code of m4x0 or z4h0??? (My second 93 has a code of w3z3)
The point is that compared to the 93s the 94 drives like there's 200 lb of bricks
in the trunk. It's definitely slower and I was wondering if it was due to the pcm tune.
I didn't want to fry two pcm's for the sake of experimenting.

I don't think so... I believe they do not have to match "catch-codes" but the "strategy" needs to be the same.

I'm pretty sure by the 'spelling' of the catch-codes, they are from a different strategy code. I don't have the specifics (maybe someone does) and I don't truly understand it either.

It seems to me if the pin-outs and sensors are the same (which they would be), they should work, but that's too logical I guess.

The catch codes also need to match the MAF sensor or it will run like poop or like a huge vacuum leak. You shouldn't fry anything but I wouldn't try it if I were you.

I wouldn't see where this would be a problem assuming the pin out is the same and the cars have the same sensors and control lines on the same wires. This could be hard to verify but if you have the service manual for a 93 and a 95 you could compare. I know on newer cars there are modules that communicate to each other and sometimes you can't switch out modules without reprogramming them.

Well, I had to do this with my Stang because it ran crappy anytime I didn't match the MAF with the PCM. :( You know the Marks better than me Jeremi, I'll take your word for it. :D
