Anyone going to South GA Motorsports dragstip this weekend?

I have word from friends up there that this weekend is the NOPI ricer get together with beer and bikini contests and a bunch of crazy college girls.
Naaa im not comming up for that, i just want to race. ;) I'll be trying like crazy today to get my 02 sensors wired back up all new and housed inside 600 degrees farenheit DEI wiring looms for protection. Had a little mishap where the wires to right side came down and melted onto the passenger header. I hopefully get it all wired back up to make a few passes saturday night in the 1/4 again.

"banging head against wall" bahhh Can't go up there yet. Still have ignition miss and backfire. Must find water damage that ive caused with car wash spray wand..Replaced all wiring to both 02 sensors. (right side was bad and melted with two opens.) I replaced Ignition controll module with new unit also. All spark plug related stuff like plugs and socket holes have been thourougly dried out and sealed back up. Only thing left to take apart tommorow is the coil packs and capacitors and the knock sensors is only thing left that could mess with my ignition. Both coil packs were new about 4 months ago. wires and spark plugs are new.

What else do you guys think could i have screwed up using engine GUNK foam and then spraying it off? I do it all the time and this was the very first time ive had this problem. When i find the culprit its getting its own isolated plastic box filled with silicone so this never happens again. Two weeks down and wasted now with no race time. I am going through withdrawls and tempted to take my bike up there and run it.

Have you examined all the grounds for corrosion and checked all the harness connectors for signs of water intrusion? One corroded ground or one wet harness connector could be all it takes. Also do a spark leak test on the ignition wires. Take a peek under the hood in pitch black conditions and see if there's a light show. Have someone throttle it up and down during the examination.

Well, this is just a touch-up job, not a full repaint. I wanted to redo the whole car the same color with more metalflake, but the $3K-$5K for a full job was beyond my budget. :(

So, for now it's getting the hood and front bumper repainted along with some places along the rocker panels and fenderwells repaired. The hood was developing some serious clear coat issues as well as the infamous bubble pattern. The front bumper was pock marked with typical rock chips. New chrome strips will highlight the bumper. The other chrome strips in the trim are fine. I'm replacing the passenger side door molding as it has been damaged sometime in the past. I'm having the front license plate bracket neutered and I have a replacement for the chrome piece along the front of the hood as well. With the new corner lamps and HIDs from last year, it should look pretty spiffy again.

The hood is worrysome though. The bubble pattern from the factory glue wreaks havoc to normal body work routines. It's going to take some special plastic panel filler and some urethane primer/sealer to hopefully yield good results. We even went about looking for another hood, but my logic told me they would all most likely propose the same problems. The fiberglass Cobra R style hood was also considered, but with a 3 week delivery, that was out of the question. Maybe later.

I hope to have it back next week to attend a private track rental next weekend. Hopefully I can get some new pics as well.

Yep ill be hitting all the grounds today. The entire engine wire harness was cut apart yesterday and now i have spaghetti pile. lol The 02 sensors path lives in its own 2 DEI sleeves now. I replaced two fuseable links yesterday and today the old wiring for all the old mark 8 sensors will be removed and new wire harness sleeve for just what the cobra needs will be all fixed up. I will pull all sensor connectors and blow them out. My gut feeling is drawing me to the knock sensors and wiring. Well see what happens today.

I still have my first Cobra R hood decorating my living room wall if youre interested. It needs fiberglass repair on the rear left corner that goes against winshield. It is cracked but not broken off. I am going to get it fixed here locally if i ever get time to bring it over to shop with truck.

Just got done pulling all connector plugs, sockets and spraying electrical contact cleaner in all of them to dry them out. Wiring and all gounds checked out fine with voltmeter. Then i dielectric greased them before plugging them all back in. Fixed a dryrotted rubber hose vacuum line that was leaking behind the intake. Fixed one wire to the IAC that was a bad crimp connector. Seems to be idling smooth and fine now but didnt take it out for a drive yet.
Car is going in to Lincoln monday for a new compressor. I got freaked out laying next to car looking underneath at 02 sensors when i hear a very faint knocking grinding noise, then it stopped after i turned off the AC. Original AC compressor is making growling noises and could be messing with the idle when it drags on bad bearings if thats what it is. grrrr the saga continues. I wanted to wait for your rims in the mail anyways Driller before i went to the track so id have the slicks on. Pushing for NEXT friday at the track. jeese...lol

Turns out that rattling noise is the crap inside the right catylitic convertor. Thats my second set of high flow catco convertors. This is another 500.00 shot at the problem. i will be changing over from my H pipe back to the Magnaflow X pipe after the cats. This is getting expensive..lol
No wonder why i was complaining abot the heat problem running up side of the car. The stinkin cat was plugged and now you can hear the platinum honeycomb rattle around loose inside there when you bang on it.
What would cause the cats to be burning up? Is it running too lean or too rich? I am not going to replace the cats again. This is the last set. If they burn this time im cutting them off myself with sawsall and punching them out with chisel and pipe and having my cousin weld them back in the backyard shop.
