Atlanta Dragway Test and Tune Friday, July 13

Thanks, Everyone :) I appreciate it.

Just got off the phone with Ryan at Injected Engineering. Both he and Aric are going to come to the track after work today. What a great bunch of guys. :)

I am stoked now. I put the MT DR's on last night, shined it all up, and the helmet, air pump, and camera are in the trunk.

Let's go racing!!! :)

Take the hula girl out for weight transfer. :)

Take the hula girl out for weight transfer. :)

Post vids! Wish i went with ya, but mine is still sleeping in garage. lol Its raining like crazy here, hope you have better luck up there with the weather. Good luck and give em hell Mike.

What a great night :) We had a lot of fun.

I did a total of 5 runs, and Aric did 3 runs. Traction was a big issue, and the shift points still need work. Aric loaded up a cool program on the xcal2. A totally electronic manual valve body :) He used it on the last run of the night. This file will turn the Mark into a manual shift car. Leave it in third - and it will stay in third, even leaving from a stop light. I have it on video, it is the last video below.

The best run of the day was a 12.745 @ 108.43. It is the first video below. Here is the slip:

60'.....1.865
330'....5.337
1/8.....8.179
mph.....86.26
1000'..10.660
1/4....12.745
mph....108.43

I am the driver for the first video during the day. The three night videos are with Aric driving the Mark.

NOW we're talkin'! :D

What was the weather stats?

Was that runnin' the ET Streets?

Were you launching off idle?

How's it feel in a 12 second mark VIII? :D

We gotta get you some traction now! I see a possible low 12 second car. Do you????

Congrats on taking it to the track! :)

You're gonna break a lot of Impala hearts at the SSHS this year! And mine too!

Sweet runs Mike!

Sweet runs Mike!

Nice runs Mike. I guess you fall out of the NA forever now and into boosted land. I do see them falling alot lower than that also when you tweak the shiftpoints and get traction. What are you averaging for weight nowadays? Did you get a weight at the end of track at Atlanta?
I like listening to the crowd in the stands vids. haha Noone thinks our cars are fast. They were saying ho ho ho Grandma is mad! When you did the big burnout to heat the meats. Thats whats great about all Marks. They are the perfect sleepers untill you mash the gas. :big-grin:

Congrats mike.
Looks like we have another 12 sec mark VIII
BTW what rpm's your trans shifts from 1-2 gear and 2-3 gear.My best shift points are 1-2 6800 rpm and 2-3 7000 rpm.

Congrats Mike, the car is really flying down the track now! The car definately has more in it once you get that 1-2 shift down and get some more test and tune runs. You almost trapped 110mph on one of the runs!

Thanks, Guys. :)

JP, The weather was in the 80's, and rain in the area.

I had the MT ET Streets DR on, and the pressure started at 20 psi, and I think Aric had them down to 13 psi on the last run.

I can say that I went back to basics with the launch, and not sure what Aric did. I matted the gas off idle. Nothing fancy, and my burnouts were not as cool as Arics. I just cleaned them off more or less.

How does it feel? G R E A T! :) Two hands on the wheel for me though.

Some dry cold air like my northern SC friends have, and some good traction, I think you are right, there is more in it :)

SSHS is going to be a blast this year :)

Thanks, Jeff. I did not hit the scales, but I had 3/4 tank of fuel, spare tire, jack, and junk in the trunk. Just like on the street. Guessing, but I had to be at least 4000 pounds. You need to double time and get your Mark done, so we can go T&T before SSHS! I can't begin to tell you how much attention the Mark got last night. It was funny seeing everyone's look on their face when it would click off those 12 second runs. Priceless :)

Thanks, Mike. The Mark is still being tuned, so the shift points could be close to yours already. I do not think Aric wants to spin the stock bottom end up to 7k like you though. I did not pay attention to the tach, but I think he set the rev limiter around 6800.

Thanks, Jeremi. Aric was driving at night, and he said that he rolled out of the throttle to hook after the shift.

Thanks, Serge. I can't wait until this thing gets dialed in. It is a real treat to drive. I burned 3/4 tank of fuel last night. It is about 170 miles round trip from my house to the track and back, and a total of 8 runs at the track :)

JP, The weather was in the 80's, and rain in the area.

Using the 8PM stats, the temperature was 78.8* with relative humidity of 65% and the barometer was at 30.05 inches. Using the track elevation of 1000 feet, the density altitude was approximately 2600 feet.

That puts your ET correction factor at 0.9692 and the MPH correction factor at 1.0325. Applyng those correction factors, that gives you a corrected ET of 12.352 @ 111.95. :D

You can likely gain 1-2 tenths with traction, especially concentrating on the 60 foot times.

A little more tuning and a pulley change should then put you in the 11s on a perfect day! ;)
