Bad gas maybe?

I was low on fuel today & stopped and put $20 of Sheetz' best in my 98 mrk 8. Wasn't more than a mile and the car started missing. Then the Check Engine light came on. It stayed steady for a while then it would blink then go back to steady. I checked my owners manual & it said bad gas can cause it and wait 3 cycles for the problem to clear up. Any comments or better/quicker sollutions? I went to Sunoco (where I usually buy) and added another $25 worth and an additive to remove water etc...
All help is appreciated....

Jon usually gas will not cause the above mentioned issues....

Did you ever check the codes? You can do it for free at autozone. It will tell you want cylinders are misfiring... so you can pull the coils and check the coil boots.

The tester at AA was not working so I went to AZ and they said number 2 wire/coil/plug is not working properly. I had all the plugs/coils replaced in the begining of the year. I have less than two thousound miles on the car since then. Should a problem arise that quick?..thanks

I will have my mechanic friend (neighbor) take care of it tomorrow, I hope...thanks.....I am also calling the repair shop that changed all the plugs/coils and asking what they did with the old ones and/or are they fixing the car for free.

I wish...neighbor mechanic is busy, but the repair shop said they will take care of the problem, They also have my old parts......in case they are needed....no charge I am assuming

Sounds like the PA version of Gaseteria. Maybe the car saw what you were trying to do and attempted to disable itself before you made it swallow that stuff. ;)

Car was fixed today. The repair shop charged me 18.99 for a coil boot & $40 labor. But when I picked the car up there was still a slight miss. Took the car back and they replaced 4 more coil boots for $72 and no labor costs. They told me my valve cover gaskets need replaced cause the leaking oil is what ruined the coil boots. So back in the shop next week the car goes.

thanks for all the help

Leaking Valve cover gaskets shouldn't ruin the boots...

And $18 for a boot and 40 for labor is a rip off... you can get a boot for $2 and change it for free takes all of 3 min!.... make sure you don't pay an arm and a leg for the Valve Cover gaskets.

Also, your new coil boots might stop your oil leak.

I had oil in some of my plug holes, but when I replaced my spark plug wires (mine are gen 1's with plug wires) the oil in the plug holes stopped.

Maybe check them for oil after a couple of weeks?
