I installed HID lights on the Mark, and when they are on i get horrible radio reception. I turn them off and the radio is perfect, back on and i get static and horrible reception....i searched and didn't see this - anybody experience this before? Any thoughts?

Where did you install the power and grounds for your radio? Or is it the stock radio and wiring location? Did you combine the new lights wiring with the radio?

Same thing happens on my vette... This is very common on the aftermarket HID ballasts as steve pointed out.

Can you wrap the ballast(s) with alum foil? Or is it coming in directly thru the wiring? There should be some way to filter out the noise.

Yea, pay more for quality ballast if that is the issue. Not sure foil would offer enough shielding, don't want to wrap them too much since they need to keep cool.

Maybe attach a heavy gage wire to it (them?) and ground it real good. Maybe return for exchange if they are real bad. Call or write (email) the manufacturer and ask for advise.

Yes on the wire!
My first thought was the ground. I think it was Jaimie that first brought this up, although I think he was talking about bulbs not lighting up right away. Jaimie (I think) said to add an extra ground wire to the ballast case. Could help, not hard, and does not cost to much.

Yes, a good ground is important. I am sure the manufacturer is most likely overseas, do you speak and write Mandarin lol If he can get good customer service i would try another unit after the ground is checked and there is still an issue. You should have have to provide your own shielding.

Fixed it for you!

I have the stock radio, and I didn't mix the grounds with the radio...

I have it running through a relay....that I bought along with the kit.

I guess I will try to add extra grounds to the ballasts and see if that works...
