Bad strut rod bushings?

I would have to agree that the OEM bushings are superior. When they are compared side by side it is quickly evident that much more engineering effort went into designing them. The OEM bushings are just plated washers and molded rubber/plastic. My Moog rubber ones did not even have the mold flash removed. Not a big deal, but definitely a sign of the quality going into them. I have spent numerous years interfacing with component designers and suppliers in the automotive and electronics industries. There are many features and characteristics in the OEM bushings that add significant costs that Ford would not incur unless necessary. The washers are significantly thicker, larger, and more contoured. The bushings are also more than just molded plastic and a sleeve. Regardless, the AM parts cannot be completely discounted since some people are having success with them.
