Balloon Fest and Car Show 8/10-11-12/07

Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival
August 10, 11, 12, 2007 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

This is a three day event, I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. It should be fun, lots of bands, hot air balloon rides, food, fun for all!
 
Get some good pics. Hot air balloons offer great photo ops. Wish they would put one together here in San Antonio instead of these tortilla festivals.:fart
 
I was there on Saturday with the Vette crew, I did see Leo with his El Camino. There was not much in the way of balloons when I was there, I heard they launch them in the evening on that day.
They had sky divers, free style motor cross, monster trucks and lots of MILFs.

With the publicity of recent motorsport spectator fatalities, I find it incredulous some organization would host an event involving 'monster trucks' with spectators that close in proximity behind nothing more than a snow fence. :eek:

Get this, I was like WTF, the announcer comes on and says you must stand back 10’ from that fence, it is a safety zone. So a snow fence and 10’ of air is going to protect you. :eek:

From the looks of the pics, I think most were in violation of the rule!

Almost reminds me of the middle-eastern you-tube videos of cars 'drifting' down the highway with spectators along both sides and no physical barriers in place. "Step back 10 feet from the white line please". :D
 
Also, most of the people around that fence were kids in strollers and young children. I didn't quite get the whole point of smashing some cars that were once someone's pride and joy. I watched it for three minutes and left.

Steve, you and your group are darn lucky you didn't come on Sunday. Everything was fine until that monster truck show at 1PM when the hordes descended on us! There were six of us in our group (3 rods, 3 customs) and we couldn't keep these people off the cars. Between kids jumping on the running boards, people leaning and sitting on the cars, some opening doors, it was a true horror story. Morons with strollers trying to push them between the cars for no apparent reason! I had some traffic cones with me so we put them up between the cars and these idiots just stepped over them! Now I know how a dog feels franticly trying to guard his favorite bone. :eek:

Never again will any of us do that show it just wasn't worth the aggravation... even though I did finish first in my class :)
