Banner and web page info.

I checked out a video in the Glove Box, the one of the drifting accident, and on the page it shows a banner with "girls in (my town) that want to meet you". Where can I find more information about how this works? My wife saw that and went ballistic! I tried to explain about IP address and that must be how they know my location, but she is sure that I must have searched to find them. I have been looking for a site that explains how the banners know my city, but haven't found enough information to make my case. Come on guru's, somebody help me out! I can't believe a car video has caused me so much grief.

I'm sorry, i had to laugh when i read that.

they can figure out where you're coming from by your IP address and which servers you are coming through to get to the site. I get those banners all the time, and they're different if i'm in a different city.

Same thing happened w/ me and my girl, and although she has a degree in IT and knows it's not me or anything I'm doing....she still got upset for a while.....
you can't win no matter what. ::roll::

Yup, I get these ALLLLLL the time. These ads are getting smarter and smarter. Tell her to log on into the same site from another major city, or have one of her friends have a try at it.

Tell her its either that, or allllllllllll the hot chicks on the internet live in your town :D

I wouldn't recommend that.

I tried that on my wife.

I didn't see her for three days.

Then the swelling subsided and I was able to open my eyes.
