Best performance upgrades.

My daily drive Mark VIII is getting mighty tired...it just turned 198,000 miles and I've never been real easy on it, so its about time to either rebuild it or replace it. Kind of hoping it will make it through the winter as is, but today gave me reason to doubt that. The body still looks like new, and I am replacing the seats and carpet, so the interior will be mighty nice as well, so its worth it to bring her back to new. Anyway, as long as I have to go through the engine, I am wondering what the best bang for your buck performance upgrades are. I don't mean supercharging or nitrous here...I want to stay naturally aspirated. I am pretty sure I'll get ceramic headers and lower restriction exhaust, but where else would be a good place to put a few extra bucks?

RE: Best performance upgrades.

how much extra bucks?

If you're going to redo the motor, have the heads ported and polished, and get some bigger valves and cams. Port and polish the intake, and raise the compression (different pistons). of course that will all cost way more than the car is worth.

RE: Best performance upgrades.

A stall and gear change will make it a totally different car. Of course you will need the necessary chip and driveshaft upgrades.

RE: Best performance upgrades.

The chip and exhaust are the first 2 I did. Well worth it.

RE: Best performance upgrades.

I see bout buying a used cobra motor and rebuilding that one and maybe looking into replacing bushing and some susp. part etc.etc...get the block and start from there first.
