I am new to the mark viii. I want an exhaust setup the will sound great and not be too loud. I have read all of the other post about the setups for the exhaust but it is still hard to make the decision. If anyone could help that would be great.

RE: Best setup

What year model? You may already have duals (lsc). Do you plan to keep the cats/replace the cats, or remove/gut them? Do you plan on headers? Do you plan on adding significant hp soon(may want to increase tube diameter)? Our cars like a "x" crossover in the exhaust, many prefer a double "x" crossover. This adds a little, but much needed torque; also seems to improve the sound to some. A recent trend is to use a muffler with a built in "x".

RE: Best setup

yea i like the loud sound in the exhaust...but there are times u dont want a straight pipe...(next to a cop at a red)...so im gettin straight through( only have the 2 cats)...no muffler till the very last point i can put it, then put the 40df flowmaster, but before that, a little trick that many people seem to like just to f with ppl at lights, is a disconnect switch that switches the exhaust from before the mufflers to straight pipes that come out next to the mufflers...( sounds real nice ) i can try to get u any diagrams and instructions u want if u would like to do that

RE: Best setup

The most popular set-up is a true dual, 2 1/2 inch, single-x cat-back exhaust with magnaflow or dynomax ultraflow mufflers. (both mufflers are very similar)

The full piping and mufflers can be order from Dan at http://www.speedfreak.cc/ or you can order the parts to have your local muffler shop weld them up at http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com/

You will first need to find an exhaust shop willing to hack out the '3rd cat' currently in your car.

I have this set-up with magnaflows and couldn't be happier.
