blend door actuator

No man, lets do some diagnosing rather than just replacing stuff!

Let the car warm up and then check the heater hoses at the back of the intake, they should both be warm. If they are, then you're heater ducting is not working. If one is cold and one warm, then your heater core is blocked. If they are both cold, then you have other issues.

check your heater core hoses, alot of people here in florida dont need heat, so when they have a heater core problem they bypass it instead of fixing it, just like my gem in the driveway, previous owner bypassed the heater core and i'm not fixing it. i'll regret it the next two nights though when it dips into the 20's where i am!

Ok this is what i found on the back of the intake i found 2 hoses one is not connected to anything the other is kinked so nothing can go through it.

Its fixed i hooked the hoses back up and now i have my heat no leaks. I think when the blend door went out someone miss diagnosed the problem as the heater core and bypassed it. Thanks for all the help.

I jump the gun sometimes i just like my cars to be right and im kind of short on patience but thanks for all the help.

i have a feeling that if i fixed my houses i may have heat with no leaks also, but i dont know why someone did it, it wont be a blend door problem in my car, its a 93, i'm gonna wish i had heat though tomorrow on the way to work, its supposed to drop to the upper 20's. the ride to work this morning sucked i was so cold, i smoke so i had the window opened which made things even better!!! maybe this weekend i'll put mine back and see what happens!

lets change that i drove the car to work today because it was gonna be 40 degrees had the heat on this morning and started smelling antifreeze then heat went out and windows started fogging up. Then got to work and felt the passenger side and sure enough felt dampness.I changed the blend door myself wasnt that bad actually but im gonna have the mechanic do the heater core he is gonna charge me $300 im just glad i didnt pay to have the blend door done then turn around and have to do the heater core.

Doh.....atleast you didn't pay a grand to have the blend door fixed and it not be the problem. On the other side of the spectrum....a little better diagnosing and you probably didn't NEED the blend door.

no i needed the blend door also the black shaft was broken but oh well i will have the car ready for spring.

I had the heater core replaced so now i have heat but i have a ? my coolant level changes in the reserve tank when the car gets to temp it will fill all the way up sometimes leak out and when the car sits for a while the reserve tank goes way down is that because i have air in the system or something else. The car doesnt overheat just wondering what this is.

Yeah....it can fail, thus releaving pressure at a PSI lower than intended. Most standard radiator caps are designed to release at 14-15 PSI, when they fail, they will either release pressure/coolant too soon or not at all (like mine did and blew up my heater core!)
