Blend Door Winter Fix

I'm going to wait till spring to do the blend door. Until then
I thought I could just leave it at 90 degrees...but the door keeps
moving back, I don't know why. It stayed there for about a month,
and now it moves after I shut the car off. So I installed my winter
fix. I laugh everytime I look at this:

RE: Blend Door Winter Fix

I,too now have the dreaded blend door problem. Your fix is original and funny as heck!! Much simpler solution than trying to reach under every time you want heat. What do you have the string connected too on the other side? Question for anyone else out there: have the replacement blend doors been hardened or upgraded to not have this problem once replaced?? :)

Thats what i heard, part number was changed a few years ago for a so-called "updated" part. Mark would know all about it.

I changed mine myself with the newer one, and it held up pretty good.

See [a href="http://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=19&topic_id=2242&mesg_id=2242&page="]this thread[/a].

Look under "Part Number" for details. I honestly don't know if the updated part is any better than the original.

I'll be offering my modified actuators again in the next few weeks. I've yet to order another batch from Max, so don't have anything in stock other than a couple I have set aside for some people.

Mine's shot too. Maybe there is a problem with the engineering. Ya think???? A great way for Lincoln to make money in labor. Nothing like engineering a real bad part and then to put it in the worst place possible. Great! Anyway, good solution. I think I'll do that too. I still have heat maybe because I have the ETAC set at 90 degrees and turn it on and off. Maybe the motor does not move then, but having a backup like that iis good. You should have another string marked A/C.
It's almost as good as or better than the Lincoln engineer who designed the motor. I don't want to change mine either until the weather gets a little warmer since there is a plastic part that has to be bent or moved to allow it to be installed.
