Blown piston ring?

I checked the oil today (the day after I get my car back from Tire Kingdom), and the oil stinks of gas.

From tire kingdom to my house it is 1.3mi. I drove from tire kingdom to my house, and back to tire kingdom again (driving nowhere else), so lets say 3mi for the hell of it.

When I give them the car back to put on the new tires they tell me it has 6mi on it since they last serviced it, which tells me they drove the car 3mi.

After the first time they had the car, the tranny was total mush and the torque converter would not lock. It was dieing before, but now its dead. And the oil smells like gas.

I asked the manager if they drove the car anywhere but the bay to the parking spot and he denied it right away.

Does the gas-smelling oil mean there is a blown ring now? God I hate tire Kingdom.

Could be a number of things. Blown rings, head gasket, intake gasket, fuel injector broken/dumping fuel, etc. Its also not completely abnormal. You'll get an unknown amount of gas in the oil on start-up just because the rings aren't completely seated.

How bad is the oil? Can you light it on fire? LOL, just kidding!

I'd put money on ring or a head gasket. :frown: :frown::frown:

Injectors are new I doubt one went the motor has alot of miles on it and the intake gasket I don't see how it would leak fuel into the oil... Then again I read alot of your posts and you seem to know alot more than me... heh

I didn't read your other post so I don't know what they did to your car, but it doesn't sound legit. Call the Beauru of Automotive and Repair BAR.

You're right about the intake gaskets, I was thinking about my 5.0 days when the intake will have coolant and oil running around it.

Is the Beauru of Automotive and Repair BAR only for California (just what a quick google search showed)?

I'm going to check the compression in the next couple of days...... -_-

Probably could call the regular Better Business Bureau. The monkeys working on the car probably beat the snot out of it after fixing it. Jerks!

Tell me you didn't leave your car unattended at a place you just got into a pissing contest over tires...The same place that asked you if you were gonna drive 150MPH on the street?

Oh I'm very sure they "test flogged" your car, would be VERY suprised if they didn't.
After all, your brought up the whole 150 mile per hour thing..
I'll bet they went out to "SEE" if it'd hit 150.

you said they put 3 miles on it..
you can bet it was the hardest three miles your car has ever seen.

Keep in mind that 3 miles is 12 runs at the dragstrip.. or 12 "street runs".

some nitwit beating your car in 12 back to back runs while on his lunch hour..

Yup.. I'd be standing in the managers office... for damned sure.

The BBB is a useless entity...

The only way a business would be forced to do anything is IF the business wanted to remain in "good standing with the BBB".

The BBB charges businesses to be members, then kicks the paid members out if they dont "resolve" customer service issues.

Being a "member of the BBB" means nothing, it doesnt mean your a good business.
It only means
1. you've never had a complaint YET
2. you satisified the customer that did complain to the satisfaction of the BBB.

the BBB holds NO power over businesses..
unless the business GIVES or CARES what the BBB thinks.

The only way you can force them to do anything is to "take em to court".. or hope they dont want to go to court and will settle with you.

You can also file a complaint against their business license and/or report them to your state's attorney general.

I got splendid results from DirecTV that way.

No, This is from the first time it was left there. They're buisness neighbors I'm working as a bagel maker/baker while i'm paying for college.

The first time I went I asked if I could watch and the manager told me it would be a few hours and just go back to work and come back when it was done (which I couldn't argue with because I had a ton of homework).

The second time I took it after work and waited there for about 2 hours watching the guy put the new tires on.

Which leak

Which leak

I don't think there's enough oil leaking on the ground for it to be a head gasket. There also is no coolant in the oil although when its about 59 in the morning the car has white smoke pouring out of the exhaust.

The oil is just brown and stinks of gas (changed it about 2000mi ago with AmsOil 10w-40).

I'm going to check the compression in a couple of days... I just have to find out who can read it for me.
