Boy... did I get nailed!

I was almost home this morning, when I hear something under the car and then I hear the rummmf...rummmmf of a flat tire, but not exactly.....yet.

Someone was nice enough xo to drop a huge box of roofing nails to share with everybody on the road. How nice!::nono:: I pulled into the first gas station and there were 4 or 5 guys doing the same thing I was...::grrr:: ! Almost every car going by had the rummmf...rummmmf sound I had cause theirs were full of them too! I have 18 in the right front alone.

Who knew my first attempt at posting a pic in a post would hurt (and cost) so much ::roll:: ! Oh well.

There it is! How did you do that? What do you mean by double domain name? Thanks for putting it in for me though!

RE: Boy... did I get nailed!

you put:

http://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/www.mark8.org/users/lsc2nv/nailed. JPG

It should just be http://www.mark8.org/users/lsc2nv/nailed. JPG

of course without the space so it shows up as a pic

http://www.lincolnsclub.org/users/lsc2nv/nailed. JPG will work also (again, minus the space)

Note that file names for pictures are case sensitive. In this case if you put nailed.jpg or Nailed.JPG it won't work, because the file is nailed.JPG. I do not know why this part is case sensitive, but it is.

Oh, and OUCH! That's a lot of nails! Hope you have the road hazard insurance on those tires.

RE: Boy... did I get nailed!

I wasn't lucky. My left front got at least 2 that I could see. I guess I should be happy that the fronts cleared the path for the rears, they were spared. And no, no road hazard on the fronts. They were on it when I bought it a year ago. At lease half of the tread life left. Was left! Bummer.

Damn that is insane. The insurance better pay up... but of course there is a deductible. xo

RE: Boy... did I get nailed!

Sorry to see such damage. I have never seen so many nails in a tire. Did they catch who spilled the nails? I cannot imagine it was accidental.

RE: Boy... did I get nailed!

After Hurricane Hugo hit Charleston SC back in 1989 over 80% of the houses in the area sustained some kind of damage. Most had roofing damage. The roads were full of roofing nails. My wife had 3 flat tires within a two week period due to roofing nails. I "feel" your pain, however they were easy to patch. :)

RE: Boy... did I get nailed!

I can see about 13 nails in the right front...yet the tire isnt flat, and that pic looks like it wasnt taken at a gas station...

I am curious...the tire didnt go flat?

the nails usually plug the hole. you can drive around with a nail in your tire for weeks, as long as it doesn't fall out. usually just results in a slow leak.

It took about 24 hours to go down. When I finally took it in to have them changed there were 18 in the right front, 2 in the left front, and 3 in the right rear, (I thought the rear was spared but nooooooo)! At least the rears had road hazard protection. $12.00 to replace the rear, $240.00 for the fronts.

I asked the guys at the Discount Tire what was the most they saw in one tire.... 23! They said all together they saw over 500 nails over the course of the few days just from this incident. I'm sure they were not the only shop to get them. Can't imagine how many total were on the road that day.
