Brake noise problem

I've been having a brake noise problem. My front brakes are making a very annoying noise when the brakes are not applied. Even if I apply the brakes gently the noise goes away and is gone under any other application.
My brakes are stock sized brembo rotors (the ones from tirerack)
Ceramic brake pads from raybestos with about 90% remaining.
I don't know what to do next, it sounds like something is rubbing every 1/2 revolution of the wheel. As if the rotor isn't straight and is rubbing against the brake pad. I tried braking hard a few times from 60-70-80 to almost 0 to resolve the problem to no avail.

Any input welcome.

RE: Brake noise problem

Check the caliper brackets. If the bolts are loose they will rattle during non-braking conditions. When you brake, they are under load and can’t rattle.

The first time I did my brakes, I did not use loc-tite on the bolts and they loosened and rattled while I drove.

RE: Brake noise problem

The caliper pins might be worn. Worn pins can sometimes cause the caliper to fail to completely release the disc. A new set of pins can be had from Five Star Ford for about $15. Not sure about the dealer price.

Hmm well I jacked up the car checked all screws... seem to be nice and tight. The wheel is not easily turned when its on the car its quite strange. Its like the caliper is grabbing it a little although the brakes are not applied.

That's a bad sign. Check your bearing. You may have a jammed pad (the ears need high temperature grease.)
