build a motor

This may be of some interest to you all. Ford sells a Reman 5.4 DOHC that should work fine and dealer cost is around $3000. This is a LONG BLOCK setup.

Interestingly enough, it says REMAN on the case but the motor has never been run, completely brand new.

I have a friend who is a Ford Dealer, he showed me the engine he was putting in his 04 Cobra NHRA Stock Eliminator car. He races with this stock engine and a stock blower. Makes around 600 hp with minor changes.

It comes with Forged everything, completely built and ready to run. If you are nice to the Parts manager you can probably buy the thing for under $3500.
 
I don't think any 5.4 DOHC engine came with forged rods and pistons from a factory [maybe 00 Cobra R] and doubt reman block has forged bottom end probably crank only. Mark VIII engine bay is to tight for 5.4 Dohc.
 
iv thought about 5.4 but that adds a lot more work and money in converting everting with the uper intake, etc. more than i want to do but i am thinking of doing a 4.6 to 5.0 bore when i do the rebuild.
