Bunch Of questions!!! Need help fast.

First things first. The other day while driveing, my Od button started flashing, and then fuild gushed out real quick, i pulled over, let her cool down and it hasnt been a issue since, but i bought a new trans pan cause i was going to change the fuild, since i noticed it was high(fuild).


Now second, which is much more serious, today while driveing about 2 miles from my new house, the car just cut out, died, electrical is fine, everything works, but when i go to start her up, NOTHING. i gotta go pick her up 2marrow.

Thrid, My MMx driveshaft with 4.10 gears still vibrates. Pinion angle maybe?

4th. My coolant temp flucates ALOT going from the top of the A to the top of the R. Water pump cavtitation?

Any help is welcomed, right now im sitting in front of the 2000 page service manual, trying to get some ideas.

The O/D lamp flashing is a sign of a EPC(Electronic Pressure Control) malfunction. It could be a problem with the harness, harness plug or EPC solenoid. This can be serious if left unattended.

The gushing fluid could be due to the EPC malfunction or too much fluid.

...electrical is fine, everything works, but when i go to start her up, NOTHING.

Do you mean NOTHING as in no cranking at all or NOTHING as in cranking with a no start? If no cranking at all, put the shifter in neutral(or wiggle in park) and try to start. It could be the MLPS. If it cranks but does not start, check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail. It could be the VCRM, fuel pump or even the crank sensor and/or cam sensor.

The coolant temperature fluctuation could be an air pocket in the cooling system. Check the cold coolant level at the crossover pipe.

Coolant system has been purged of all air, the car does NOTHING, i was thinking it could be the MLPS, but why would the car cut out?

Looking at the EVTM, the VCRM feeds power in start and run position to the EPC and shift solenoids. Now we also know the VCRM also controls the fuel pump. Coincidence?

...and the VCRM controls the cooling fan! You smell something here?

exactly what do i look at with the Vcrm. Also where is it? Thanks driller, I feel bad ive forgotton half of what i used to know about my mark, truck, vette, house. My head can only fit so much lol

Let's back up first. Here is the start circuit...

Maybe we missed the obvious answer to why it cut out and does NOTHING when trying to start... the ignition switch?

The VCRM is a brick sized unit mounted low front center between the grill and radiator. The most efficient testing would be replacement with a known good unit.

The PSD? Nothing much yet except intake mod. Looking to do turbo-back exhaust and chip. Wanting to start with down pipe, add a pyrometer and go from there but the Mark eats all my money! LOL!

I did the banks power elbow, downpipe, monster exhaust, I also installed the garret powermax turbo too. Took 10 hours, Big diffrence, but the best mod was the big hoss level 5 chip!

Alright thanks for the schamatics im going to fix this car, and trade it in for a 98

Well if this helps, No gear on the tranny works except park? any clues?

I have dwelled on this all day and can only suggest the VCRM would be where I would concentrate. Of course, I guess it could be mechanical as in no pump pressure, but you don't want to hear that.

I gave up, as per geno, with the engine off every gear is Neutral except park, so that was nothing. I brought it to my shop, going to let them try it out. I was really hoping on a cheap fix so i can sell it and be gone with this car. The sreach for a mint 98 begins

It was the stupid alarm, Both computers on My clifford G5 alarm went. I had to take the car back from the mechanic because he couldnt figure it out. I then just started testing the outputs on the alarm, and nothing! after a little cojoling i got the place that installed the alarm to give me 2 new brains on a "test" basis. I swapped them in. and bam... she purred as before.

Oh well

That really sucks that it could be something so simple. The Clifford alarm's disable the motor if someone try's to steal them, don't they?

Yup, plus you can disable the car via cliffords black jax feature while driveing to. Hey, at least i know if somebody trys stealing my $h-t... It aint starting
