Buying an HID kit.

Where is a good place to buy an HID kit from? I know there's a crapload of vendors on thE auction site, but is there a "preferred" vendor?

I dont know of ANY "approved" vendor but, I just ordered a kit with 9006 bulbs at 8000K from "supervtec" for $49.99. Ships from US -- has ultra thin ballasts.

I just want to avoid buying junk. I have a set that someone gave me a while back. When I plug it in, it lights for a second, the ballast buzzes, and it shuts off. Try it a few times and it eventually lights up.

You need to have the engine running/alternator active to keep these lights lit. Also you DO know 8000k will be REAL BLUE? 6000 is much more white! 8000 is what the ricers use.

I tried it with the engine running, and engine off, same thing. I think one might be dead anyways, last time I fooled around with them, they both did the same thing, now one does nothing. It's not worth wasting too much more time on.

I purchase with confidence on thE auction site by doing two things:

1. Ensuring some kind of warranty comes with the product, and

2. Not only looking at seller feedback ratings, but also looking at what the negative feedback people had to say. A good seller will only get negative feedback from idiots. (You can tell by the comments)

I just purchased an HID kit yesterday from the site for $40 shipped...3 year warranty and the seller had stellar feedback.

I recently bought some $50 HID kit for my SVT Contour back in October and it still works perfectly. However, one of the harnesses were wired backwards, ground where positive was and vise versa. Took me forever to figure out why only one light was coming on but found it eventually.

Looks like a lot of auctions say buy it now $6.99, and $32.00 shipping, then you look at the ad and it says no refunds on shipping. Hmmmm.....

contact Billy at HIDSQUAD.COM they are a local Florida HID Distributor and have almost all kits in stock. no waiting for orders. they have the exclusive super slim ballast these things could fit inside a pack of cigarettes! i just bought a 6000k 9006 kit for the new headlights i have coming for my 97.

I ordered a kit off a place on the auction site last night. Good feedback, and a friend of mine has bought from them before. I ordered a 5000k kit. It shipped out today.
