Caliper bracket???

Hello, Im wondering if its necessary to replace the caliper brackets? I had a bolt pin stuck in one on the front and one on the back, I took them to a shop and they heated it up to get it out and i think they might have ran a drill bit through it to clean it out. So basically could the heat have damaged them or warped them somehow? Im replacing all the brakes, new rotors, pads, and just have to get the calipers now but not sure if I should buy the ones that come with the brackets or if mine are alright.

you would be hard pressed to find any of them out there, the dealers are out of stock and have been for years. The heat shouldn't have damaged it any, you should be fine.

Your old caliper mount brackets should be O.K. to re-use, but your auto parts store will have a special high-temp lubricant that is specific for preventing your pins (bolts) from seizing up again. Make sure the grease you use is labeled as being for brake calipers. Other types of grease could ooze out and contaminate the brake lining material.
As normal wear gradually reduces the brake pad thickness, the pins adjust (slide) inside the bores to compensate, so you'll want to clean up the pins and the holes they go into, and make sure they can slide freely before applying the grease.

Make sure the cleaned out hole diameter is NOT changed very much. Any enlargement can cause those pins to becomed cocked/wedged when braking force is distributed laterally across the bracket, making operation 'sticky'. It will also create an occasional clunking sound when the caliper is more able to move back and forth (when going from D to R and vice versa).

did they actually DRILL the hole to a larger diameter? if so it needs to be replaced,if they used the wire brush adapter you should be fine, i can find most of any part for any car by the salvage HotLine, let me know if you need one and ill get you a price + S+H
