Can I uninstall a crappy aftermarket radio ?

Hey everyone. I've been wanting a Mark for a while, and i've found two i'm interested in. My question is this - a '98 i'm looking at had an aftermarket CD player installed in the dash. It looks like complete crap, and there's a huge gap above it where the former radio went. Is it possible, through a dealer maybe, to get the original factory radio cluster installed? Do they still make them? I apologize for any dumb questions - I know little about cars. It came new with the CD changer and all, so I don't know why the previous owner changed it. Also, what are your thoughts on buying a Mark from eBay? Any experiences? Thanks for any help, and i've learned everything I know from this site!

RE: Can I uninstall a crappy aftermarket radio ?

Sometimes OEM radio head units show up in the for sale section here. And you can try e-bay for used OEM system. If the owner of the Mark you are looking at has removed the OEM amplifier and speakers it may not be worth placing the OEM head unit back. They do sell aftermarket head units and kits to fill in the dash opening so it can be fixed. The 10 disc CD changer that came from the factory is prone to failure, so don't spend to much time to get it to work.

Some good buys can e had on e-bay, but it is always buyer beware, try to have the car inspected before buying it.

RE: Can I uninstall a crappy aftermarket radio ?

I have a OEM cassette player for the Mark VIII. This one is for a 97-98 model. I don't have the trunk mounted cd player that ties to it but sometimes you can find it on eBay. If you want, I might be willing to sell it. My 98 has the OEM cd player, no cassette and I was thinking about changing them out, but haven't gotten around to it.
