Car got hit :(

Comeing back from work last night I pulled into the drive to enter the parking garage for my apartment building. I had a riced out Mazda MX3 ahead of me, but I was about 10 to 15 feet back from him and was being patient while he fumbled through his car looking for his card so he could get in. He finally finds it and the gate opens. Well this nut must have never driven a manual before. I hear him rev his mighty engine up and the fart can is screaming. But the guys not going anywhere but backwards. I lay on the horn and he rolls right into my front bumper.

I got off fairly unscathed. I have a nice mark on my bumper that will most likely buff out and the paint chipped slightly on my liscense plate holder. I'm leaving later this morning for a weekend trip down to the lake of the ozarks with the girlfriend so I guess I won't be able to give the car the proper attention it deserves untill sometime next week.

This is just another reason why they need to teach kids to drive manuals in drivers ed.

sorry about your car man, that sucks. Just another reason I would rather be flying, they tend to give less morrons pilots licences than they give drivers licenses...

RE: Car got hit :(

No, I did not kick his ass. And yes I would've much rather have flown but the gf's parents really wanted me to drive. So I did.

The guys insurance company called my house over the weekend while I was gone. After surveying my scuff mark and ever so slightly chipped/cracked paint on the liscense plate holder I don't think I'm going to make a claim at all. It just really pissed me off that some asswhipe rolled into my car.

But the 200 mile drive went well. Set the cruise at 90 (was only able to do that for half the way or so, to much traffic where slow people drive in the fast lane) Got about 22mpg out of it. I was happy with that. One thing I didn't really like was the temp gauge was pegged onto the R in the NORMAL range. Seemed kind of warm, but it was 97 degrees out.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen to him - only the girl driving the other car took off after she hit him! So he chased her back to her house (she was 16 or 17), and the cops were called, yada yada. Fortunately there turned out to be no damage to my friend's car so he just let it go.
