Car pulls right

When i apply brakes to my 95 it pulls right no problems at all when accelerating or cruising. rotors look fine and there is no noise. im gonna take the wheels off and look but any other ideas, or common problems with this?

Check the opposite side that it is pulling to. If one side stuck or "slow", it will pull to the opposite direction when you step on the brakes.

Bingo....check the slide pins on the left side, make sure they are not stuck and the caliper can move on the bracket freely. A sticky caliper will not cause the car to pull, it will only cause the brake to drag after you let off the brakes.

unless its completely jammed open, like mine was and therefore not even engaging. Then it would pull to the side that only gets friction, no?

It would pull towards the side that was "engaging" (getting the friction), opposite the side that is jammed open.

Just a thought but I had a pulling problem on my 96 Cougar where it would pull hard to the left when I braked. I replaced both the calipers trying to fix it but it didn't make a change.

Shortly after the lower ball joint started making some noises, once it was replaced the pull was gone. The side it pulled to was the side that was bad.

So it's not always a brake related problem. :)

Very true....the reason it pulled was because the actual alignment of the vehicle was changed due to the loose ball joint, causing the car to "track" different.

As far as the caliper being stuck open, its not very common.

It could be the brake hoses also. Some are known to degrade and not let fluid pass back properly or not allow fluid to pass thru. They became a kind of "check valve" in one direction. My Excursion had this problem and it pulled hard right when the brakes were applied. Replaced the hoses for $40 and problem was solved.

Good tip! :wave022:

You could try putting a Vice Grip on the opposite side and see if it straightends it out. :D JUST KIDDING!
