Car stalled

I have an '02 LS V8. Last week, my wife was driving it & it stalled on her. It would start again, but immediately cut off again. We must have tried 20 times to get it to run, finally we had to get it towed to our mechanic. When our mechanic tried it, it started fine, & it hasn't given us any more problems, but my wife is afraid to drive it fearing it will leave her stranded again.
When it cut off, it seemed like it wasn't getting gas, although it had 3/4 of a tank. I was also wonderign if it could be an electrical problem, as she has had some other electrical gremlins from time to time.
Has anyone else had a problem like this or have any idea of what it could be?

Sounds to me like a bad Crank Position Sensor or a bad fuel pump. Honestly, it could be a million things (literally), but you need to get a code scanner and check for codes. We'll walk you through the fix. :D

Hmmmm.....I had this happen once on my old 1.8T Sunbird. It was a clogged fuel filter. You would drive it for awhile and it would stall out. It would start right up but it would not rev up or drive. I let it sit for about 15 minutes and it started up normal and fine, and I drove it home where it died about a block away from my house (drove for another 10 minutes). Let it sit, and it started and ran fine again. Talked to one of my mechanic buddies, he suggested the fuel filter, changed it and all was dandy.

Turns out, it had a ton of sediment in it when I poured it out. Basically, you're driving and the sediment starts to clog the passages in the filter until it eventually starves the engine and it stalls. Let the pressure in the fuel system decrease, sediments drop to bottom of filter and it runs fine again.

Try changing that and see how dirty the fuel inside is.

I had a similar problem when I had the Grand Am, and I believe it was the fuel injectors were clogged or something. I'd start with the easier fuel filter though. ;)

Lol, atleast thats what the mechanic told you Sharon! :D

Yeah, I know, but after it would stall out on me randomly, and no one around here worked on cars at that time, it was worth it to have it fixed. :fart

I had a similar experience with a taurus of mine. Floor jack in the trunk rolled during a turn and popped the inertia switch. Had to be reset. Doesn't sound like its your situation, unless your mechanic saw it and pushed and forgot to tell you that was it. Usually a pretty simple thing that can fail though and takes no time to check.
