Car wont start.

O.k. I recently purchased ANOTHER mark. When I bought it already had the issue. Therefore, I have no idea what happened the last time it was running. :( . I have replaced the p.c.m., e.e.c., fuel filter, fuel pump, ignition module, The camshaft sensor, sleeve. Now moving to the crankshaft position sensor. The car seems as though it wants to start. Sometimes backfiring through the intake but not always. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

You're going to kick yourself if you find the crank position sensor was the culprit.

Once again, the two most prevalent causes of this symptom are the cam sensor and crank sensor(or the associated harness plug(s)).

Unplug the crank sensor and plugging it back in would be a first step.

O.k. Of course the simple unplug and plug back up failed me. So on to trying the replacement of the cps. They certainly have made burying bolts an art. I got three of four a/c bolts out. Then duty calls so I will have to wait until tomorrow.

After having changed the cps. The car attempted to start. Actually starting and holding an idle for a second before dying.:frown: I pulled two plugs which appear to have quite a bit of wear. Im going to swap out the plugs tomorrow for a new set. What type of plugs are suggested? Also any other suggestions on my quest to breathe life back into this gr8?

Autolite 764s... Copper or Platinum your choice.

How many miles are on your Mark VIII and how old are the wires?

Now even further in. After plugs and wires. I swapped throttle bodies, throttle position sensor, and still no change. What gives?

just start unplugging stuff one thing at a time then try to start the car then plug it in and unplug something else. useley if a sensor is bad if it is unplugged it will go to default setting and the car will at least act different. i would try to unplug the MAF. i have taken mine off a few times and for got to plug it back in and the car idles like it has a huge cam for a short time and shuts off and will not restart until i plug it back in
