Car wouldn't shift to 2nd and revved real high

Hey guys,

I was driving home the other night, and got on it after a turn. The car revved up to 6k where it usually shifts if I am driving hard, but this time it didn't and the revs went right into the red area, almost to 7000. I let off quick and it didn't seem to affect anything. I have about 165k on the car, and maybe 20k on the first mercon v I put in.

What do you guys think, anything to worry about? I don't usually drive too hard, but like to do a few blasts now and then.

I bet you have the original early style tranny pan for the 4R70W transmission. Getting on it in a turn causes the a low transmission fluid level at the filter pickup due to high lateral G forces and subsequently the tranny pump looses prime, causing the neutral shift feeling and high revs. The updated revised version has a bigger sump and different filter pickup to alleviate this concern.

With 20K on the fluid, I would change the transmission fluid.
