Carlisle classes

Has anyone spoken to the powers that be at Carlsile to insure that this year they get the classes right? Four classes althogether for Mark VIII's - 1st & 2nd Gen each with Stock and Modified?

And about getting us off that darn hill!

Even with the amount of people that don't pre-register, we always have enough for 4 classes . . . anyone know if we have very many pre-registered this year??

The problem for the last couple of years has been that not enough people pre-register, they wait until they arrive at the fairgrounds. This is why we wind up on the hill or with less classes. it really should take a BOD member to call them and push for location and classes pointing out the number of cars we always have and not relying strictly on pre-registrations. Other clubs do this and they always get better results.

Does anyone know when the cut off date is/was for the pre registrations? I mean, when they decide the classes and locations?

I pre registered in February, I hope that wasn't too late.

The only deadline I could find was May 4th for any club to have 25 members registered to waive the pre-payment requirement for the $150 tent fee.

Also, "Registration prices will increase 19 days prior to the event."

Why don't you speak to Carlisle officials ? It seems to me it's very important to you, and being a Carlisle veteran you surely know who to talk to ?

Because it's not even remotly my job or place to do that, no I don't know a sole to speak to there as it's solely the job of an LOD officer as they have dealt with them in the past. Every year we are up on the hill everyone complains, last year when the classes where reduced, everyone complained. So wouldn't it make sense for the club to try and ensure that we get better treatment?

I will call to see what the classes are this year and where we will be located.

The key to getting classes and better placement has to do with pre-registration numbers, and the number of cars that showed up the previous year.

Saturday, May 12, 2007 or 19 days before the event.

We need to have more people pre-registered. The number of people who have pre-registered is low. There has been a change of personnel running the event this year. The locations of the classes will be the same as last year. The organizer will get back to me as to what Lincoln classes there will be this year. I don't expect a change.

We have a club tent.

Please pre-register. I am holding my breath until everyone does this.

For your pre registration to count toward the number of expected participants of 2007 All Ford Nationals, it must be received before the end of the day, May 12, 2007.

Hope this helps.

I'm in with a second car. :D

You two are just under the wire!

As of this writing, May 15, 2007, all registrations start at $45.00 There is still the incremental registration discount for listing additional vehicles, but they all must belong to the same person.

Not the best classes; not the worst classes.

John,

Carlisle is a fun event. More of our members should attend it. Even my wife thought it was fun.

We need more preregistrations for next year. Then we can get more classes for our Lincolns for trophies.

I agree wholeheartedly. As a matter of fact, what a lot of people don't know is that we had so many Lincolns in 2007 that we OUTGREW the smaller areas that we were placed in for 2006.

The event coordinator places the cars.

Placement is based on preregistration.

Preregistration is cheaper than registering at the gate AND cheaper than being a spectator parked in the lot at gate 7 and having to walk a few hundred yards to the action.

We needed a utility vehicle for 2007 so my Wife preregistered her 2003 Ford Winstar for $35.00 back in January. That van had unlimited access to and from the fairgrounds for three days. We parked it at the tent and stepped out. When we shut the door, we were litterally standing in the middle of the Lincolns Fun Field :)

(Lynette's Green shiny thing is too the right of the tent)

That pretty much sums it up. 2007 was a better year for attendance by the Lincoln community, and hopefully will be considered as well, but preregistration is the key element.

Well I have to add the "squeaky wheel" theory again. It certainly will not do any harm to call the event coordinator at least 90 days before the 2008 show and impress on him/her that we do get a decent showing of cars even though they aren't all pre-registered. I'm sure they have the records for this year and last and can see that we have a good showing. Also the fact that the LOD has been a strong supporter of Carlisle even going so far as to buy a bench with our plaque on it.

It surely doesn't hurt to call! I suggested it for this year but nobody bothered to make the call. And while at it try and get back our Gen 1 stock&mod and Gen 2 stock&mod classes like we always had.

If there is any benefit to multiple members writing to Carlisle about this, let me know; I will be glad to write in.

I couldn't believe the disorganization on the showfield this year - I've never seen anything like it. Various models were scattered all over the field, mixed in with different makes/classes. There was no way to properly vote for Mustangs for sure, as I saw them all over the place. I never found the Ford concept vehicles either, which used to be in the same building every year.
