CBS sportsline streaming locking up pc

Hey guys,
There is a computer at work that is getting locked up by a CBS sportsline score streamer that is trying to download. The owner of the computer did not ask for this thing and now he can't get it to go away. It is trying to load, but never finishes and locks up the PC. We have tried but can't seem to get rid of it.
Ideas?
I'm looking into pop-up killer software, and tried Adaware, but without paying for the improved versions it hasn't killed the thing.

Thanks for the help...

RE: CBS sportsline streaming locking up pc

Give "spybot: search and destroy" a try. If i had it in front of me, i could probably figure out how to kill it, but i wouldn't know how to begin to figure it out over the net. With that spybot software, it should give you a way to kill any of the processes that run when the computer starts. If you figure out what program is starting, or what's going on when you start up that makes it want to download, you can kill it then go and delete it. Worst case scenario you need to reformat and reload everything.

Steph - have you looked in Start -> Programs -> Startup to see if that's where it's starting? If it's not there, it's probably in the Windows "Run" key in the Registry. If you need help with the registry, let me know.

RE: CBS sportsline streaming locking up pc

I was at Crystal Reports training in Dallas last week and our new network guy did the following to solve this problem: made the guy a new profile, moved everything except internet pages, history and cookies into the new profile, and I guess he killed the old profile. We had removed all the cookies and pages before, but didn't delete them on the server and it apparently was putting them back. duh...(It's funny that I forget to delete them from the server, but what can I say; I'm an amatuer. The old network guy couldn't fix it either, and it is his JOB, I'm just a cop!)

I'm trying to learn...

Our "old" network guy is a turd who doesn't seem to actually know that much, but the new one seems nicer, knowledgable and much more helpful. Unfortunately, the old one is the boss.
