I had a very interesting and entertaining weekend as 1 of the many volunteer workers at the Molson Indy working access control as in managing people access to sensitive areas around the course for the weekend. Of course this gives me access to all the best spots around the track for race viewing myself so it’s a pretty good deal IMO to be between the trackside fences and crowd fences for the weekend in spite of the sore and tired feet today.

My area of patrol among others gave me the access to be 1 of about 30 people standing under the shade trees track outside at turn 1 when the green flag fell to start Sundays race. I hung around at turn 1 for about the first 10 laps or so then took a slow walk trackside back to turn 8 where the track makes a right turn away from running parallel to the Gardner where I hung out under another shade tree for another few laps then back to turn 10 at pit entrance for about the final 20 laps.

Ya gotta love first rate motorsports. The smells of race fuels and molten rubber, the sounds of screaming fans and race engines, the sights of race cars being pushed to their limits and beyond and form fitting spandex filled with the finest of forms.

That must have been something to be there to see Tracey win. I don't think I've seen a race where the winner went from the pole position on to win the race without giving up the lead. That's pretty astounding.

Though I watched the race from home, it was also very good to hear the American commentators extolling the virtues of Toronto. It really is a great city. I hope that some day we can host a huge LOD rally for all our friends in The States and Canada.

Maybe next year we can hold an event during Autofest 2004 (August) in Oshawa, just outside of Toronto.

See http://www.canadianrodder.com/autofest/schedule.html for this year's event.

One of the bands entertaining during the event is none other than the Lincolnaires! Maybe we can get some sponsorship from some local Ford - Lincoln dealers. There's also the award winning General Motors plant in Oshawa. I'll bet Brett could pull some strings and get a tour arranged.

There I go again, dreamin' in technicolor!

I would come up for that from New Brunswick for sure. My Aunt lives in Bowmanville, and my uncle used to work at the GM Oshawa site.

I worked some IMSA GTP races in downtown Cols, OH in the late 80s, very cool. I even drove a van around the course with people paying 5 bucks a head to ride with me while I explained the course, speeds and braking, etc. of the cars.
