I was doing some datalogging today and my car hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift. Right after that I got a CEL P0320. I tried to clear it with Sniper but it keeps coming back. Cam Position Sensor or Crank Position Sensor? I found this info online:

P0320 - Ignition Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to PCM is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that two successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses have occurred.

* Loose wires/ connectors.
* Arcing secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs)
* On board transmitter (2-way radio)

The DTC indicates that two successive erratic PIP pulses occurred.

Basically it indicates an erratic spark sequence, such as a misfire. This is a continuous memory only code so your Sniper probably can't clear it properly. Ford vehicles use a specific testing procedure to check for codes, where as most of the codes require a specific test to be done on the systems for them to clear properly. With the Sniper, its just reading the code, telling you what it is, and then trying to clear it. Clearing continuous memory codes aren't as simple as hitting the "erase" button.

I'd suggest driving it for a couple of days, the system may clear it after enough key cycles, but if it doesn't, then you'll need an actual ScanTool.

Nothing to worry about, its only there because you hit the Rev limiter.
