Changed out my Grill today!

Well after a quick stop at the body shop about them repainting my front bumper due to pealing, I did a little work on my Crown Victoria. I happened to be joking with the guy saying that once I get my car back it will have the cop wheels and grill right. He says oh you want the cop grill follow me. Well long story short he gave me a cop grill in exchange for my chrome grill. Well here are the before and after shots.

Sorry it is dirty but I did not have time to clean it yet. Next will be the Police Interceptor Logo to replace the Crown Victoria LX on the back. Then we will see about loosing the chrome wheels and getting the black Steelies.

I'm sorry but I think it looks really out of place... if the car was black or white it would look good. But it doesn't do much for your color... That chrome grill looked really classy.

Why are you changing out the badges?

Maybe if that new grill was painted to match the body that might look nice, but I agree with Max the black looks out of place on that color.

Well I like it so it stays. I may paint the surround of the grill body color but leave the middle black. I think it will fit more once the chrome strips are body color and the black wheels are on it. I am changing the badge just because I want to. I had the police badge on my Mark VIII and loved it.

Yeah that would look good with the outer surround painted to match but the grill still black!

Again, its just my opinion its your car!

Juspaint the surrond the same color as the car and it'll look great. Just be sure some Focus doesn't back into it! ;)

i wanted the cop look when i was younger so i did one better and bought a cop car!! it was an 86 crown vic, black steelies, chrome center caps, spot light on the pillar, black paint, and i even dished out over 800 bucks and had my buddie who was an emt order me wigwags from whelen emergency vehicle accessories. granted it was very illegal to impersonate a cop, i only played with them when i got behind my buddies i never messed around on the street with it but man o man it was the ultimate under cover looking vic! and it did awesome smoke shows.

I understand that it is illegal to impersonate a cop, but I am not putting light bar and anything like that on. I am also not adding a spotlight either. Plus I am simply changing out parts ones available to the general public either new or used. I do think that I am going to try to sand and paint the chrome strips in both bumpers body color as well as the surround on the grill. Then in a few months I will get the black steelies. Then comes the fun part of performance once the look is achieved.

You can have a P-71 in full gear and it is legal. You can't have any kind of lights in the front, back on top... and the obvious interior accessories.

If you like it Bill that is what counts, but I had the same observation as the others, I like the chrome better. I think if you paint it to be monochromatic with the color it will then look better then the chrome.

Found someone on Crownvic.net that had the same color vic and painted the surround on the honeycomb grill. I think that is the way I am going with this mod. Should be a fairly easy change to make. Only problem with the example is that they used the small emblem instead of the correct size emblem for the grill. example:

That looks awesome painted like that!!

Oh and there has never been nor never will be a cab as clean or as good looking at Bill's car!! The drivers in NYC beat the hell out of those cabs!!

I do like that push bar though on the front!

That is just what I am going to do. The car goes in Monday to have the peeling bumper fixed then when I get it back in a week I have some work to do. I am at least going to paint the surround, and then if I get really going I may even paint the chrome strips in both rear and front bumpers. Thanks for all the input I trust you all so very much.
