Well, I'd suggest then the Comfort Inn in Palatine, which is closer to my house, right off 53. The rates appear to be the same.

If there are enough people (I'd say at least 5) I can call them and try to see if I can negotiate a discounted rate. Their "best available" online rate seems to be 80/night.

Usually you get $10 off "best available" price for AAA membership. ;)

I don't have anything against LaQuinta, I try to stay at Comfort inn or Suites or some other Choice Hotel brand 'cause I get points for free nights. But since I've already used my banked points, I'm trying to get more. :)

We'll see who else posts up interest. :D
 
OK, just a little over 2 weeks away.

I need more input - who will be here?

I'm currently taste testing beers for a little keg (testing the Dog Fish Head 60 min. now, and have some Two Brothers stuff, and a Great Lakes to try), and will have other beer too. And non-alcoholic beverages of my choosing.

Basically, as of now I figure we can provide hot dogs, hamburgers and brats or whatever (I will ask for some funds from the club), condiments, paper products.

I'll have some drinks (well, OK, usually I get quite a bit, but hubby's trying to be cheap), the mini-keg, was thinking about making sangria.

Was thinking people could possibly bring side dishes or desserts.

Thus, I need everyone to show up. Everyone. Can I make it a requirement for moderators to show? ;)

Oh, and can someone call Sleeper? I can't find his phone number, and I haven't been able to get ahold of him.
 
lol Sharon, You know I really want to be there :) But I just got back this past Sunday from a 3 week tour that took me from ga to nc to ga to mi to ga, and now I need to stay in one place for a while to get my bearings again. At one point in the trip, I was probably less than a couple hour drive from your front door. :( One of these days... :)

Oops, it wasn't then, cause I meant to call Sleeper, LOL. Um, I think I did a little too much beer tasting. I do still hope you make it Jake! I know it's hard to say for sure sometimes.

I know, not everyone can make it. But I want to see everyone and bring the big meet back to Chicago again.

I'll either leave the night of the 26th, which would put me out there in Thursday afternoon, or I'll leave that morning, which would put me out there in the evening...

Let's keep our fingers crossed no blizzards in PA this time :D

Oh, contrary to what Hubby says, I don't think I need contributions of money. We'll see, if the beer runs out and someone has to make a run, yeah, I guess we can take up a collection. :D

It all depends on when Joe gets here and whether he shops with me at Costco or not. If yes, I highly doubt we'd run out of anything.

THen again, someone has to remind me that people like cheese on their burgers. I always forget about that.

Do I need to reserve a spot in the backyard for my tent?:)
 
I have studio work Tuesday and Weds, and Weds tends to go until around 10PM, so that's the earliest I could leave. So if I did that, I would arrive probably midafternoon.

Thanks Steve, I may take you up on my way back if that works for you? Probably Monday evening?

If you want a primo spot (ie, one without dog poop) you probably should. :p

Still no idea what's going on Friday night, but I have your number and you have mine.

Here is what I am thinking for the food since we are in Chitown

Chicago dogs - beef vienas with all the classic fixings
Char dogs on request
burgers
chicken breast (for the health consious)
Italian beef + a little hot and sweet peppers
Italian sausage (for the combos)
NY Dogs (for you east coasters)- natural casing dogs with kraut
Texas red chili (because I like it)
Chili verde (green pork chili)
baked potatoes

Yeah, the drinking will pretty much balance out any health benefit the food might cause... :D

I would have to leave Monday to get back to the studio by Tuesday, I might be able to move somethings around, but then I would still have to leave Tuesday... :rolleyes:
