Click at Start-Up

When I went to start the car this morning I got a click click click. I turned the ignition to off, and tried again, and with a little coaxing, she turned over, and the battery light stayed on for about 10-15 seconds. No problems since.

She was in the garage, and it was humid in there (dryer vents to the garage).

Is this a problem, or just a fluke?

RE: Click at Start-Up

Battery or Alt are beginning to go. Most likely the battery. Better back the car in so you can jump it should it go. If you have or can borrow a charger, that would be a good idea to put it on trickle charge for a few hours. Have both checked out before driving too far away from assistance.

RE: Click at Start-Up

Well, she did do the same thing this morning. I'll have hubby check on the terminal connections, but I think I should get a new battery before winter anyway since the one I have is the original.

It is really worth upgrading the terminals like that? It sure does look pretty though. ;-)

RE: Click at Start-Up

Well, imagine that -- after checking the terminals (and they told me they were fine) there are no more problems... hmmm, I'm thinking you were right Driller, and they probably just jiggled them enough to fix it.

But, I will be getting a new battery anyway and will have them really clean out the terminal connection thingies good. I don't know if I can convince them to get the new terminal connectors but I'll try. I'm sorry, but I'm afraid of batteries and all things electrical, so I won't touch it. :)

And as a follow-up:

I had no more problems since the jiggling occurred. However, I had hubby replace the battery over the weekend, and he had the old one tested and it was not holding a charge under a load. But as the battery was the original, I'm gonna say the prob was the terminals/connections.
