Clunking noise from front right passangers side.

Soinds like you were going about 60? It's going to be the upper control arm ball joint. You can get a new one on amazon cheaper than anywhere else. See my amazon post. My car was doing the same thing over bumps, kinda a rattling knock.

no going about 35 to 40 on these city streets. dont matter what speed, I get the same noise when I hit bumps in the road. I know I need a new rack, but this noise is from the wheel area. Just not sure if it's a upper control arm, or the shock inside the strut is shot. I'm torn because if I buy the strut, it's 189.00. and change it out, it may not be that, and it's the upper control arm. or the sway bar arm. I wish I knew a way to check them to isolate the problem.

Mine sounded like that after I did the front sway bar inner bushings and didn't tighten the bolt down properly. It backed out a little. It's a 13mm I believe.

Could be several reasons. Pot holes on the right side of the road? :)

I didn't know you've changed them, I was thinking they were still stock. How many miles on them?

Yah my car made the same sound, I changed the control arms first and it did nothing it was the connection rods that connect the front sway bar to the control arms. About 6 inches long $35-$45 each side and 10 mn to change. But I’m glad I did it all just to be safe, I have seen ball joints break before when they get old.

There are so many parts there that can cause a clunking, I don't know haw anyone can tell what it is from a recording like that.

To check if the upper control arm bushings are bad, jack the car up and put it safely on jack stands.

Then grab the arm with both hands one hand on each side of the arm, forward and rear. Then putting your whole body into it, push and pull on the arm. If you feel any play, the bushing(s) are bad.

I once replaced all my front end parts except the sway bar bushings, and still had a clunking. Then I changed the bushings and the clunk stopped. The old bushings looked fine, but the new ones cured it.

I never knew how bad my front end was until it was rebuilt. I searched many times for "loose" and clunking parts and never could find anything with play in it.

I think the clunking would come from the ball joint bouncing up and down in the socket as you go over bumps. But I can also see how the sway bar links could do the same. A solid sounding knock.
